As a Buddhist, I grew up studying the teachings of Thích Nhất Hạnh alongside my mother. Since childhood, meditation and prayer have been part of my family’s cultural rituals and my everyday life, yet it can still be difficult for me. But meditation doesn’t have to look a certain way. In fact, my dear friend, Yumi Sakugawa, writes and illustrates about this in her very charming book, There Is No Right Way to Meditate.
Meditation isn’t about sitting perfectly still, forcing peace, or turning off our thoughts. To me, it’s an intentional practice of presence, awareness, acknowledgment, and acceptance. Sometimes, having guidance can be helpful, so if you’re interested in working with me individually or booking me for group/communal sessions, please reach out. I’d be delighted to support you in any mindfulness practices.
Please enjoy this recorded meditation, inspired by my deep love for the ocean.
